This is Hwy. 155, then known as Four Mile Road, looking south towards what is now the Town of St. Germain. The entrance to Musky Inn is just ahead on the right in the gap of the rail. This turn now puts you onto Big St. Germain Drive. Hwy. 155 is the shortest highway in the state.
This is the connecting stream between Big St. Germain Lake and Lake Content around 1905. This was later enlarged into a passage allowing modern boats to navigate.
This is the Train Depot in Sayner, just north on Hwy. 155, and was the drop off point for early visitors to Musky Inn Resort. The resort was originally considered Sayner for the address.
Musky Inn as it appeared in 1908. This was the main lodge of the resort which Buckhorn Cabin is part of. The resort is now Deer Run Resort and each cabin, including Musky Inn, is individually owned.

Buckhorn Cabin is a duplex making up units 8 & 9 of the historic Deer Run Resort located on the eastern shore of Big St. Germain Lake, St. Germain, Wisconsin. The main lodge of the resort was opened in the summer of 1907 and originally operated as the Musky Inn. The resort became known as Deer Run Resort in later years (it will become apparent how the name was formed when you witness the numerous four legged visitors on the property). It's no accident that Deer Run Resort is located where it is. When the original owners arrived over 110 years ago to find a location for the resort they had the opportunity to pick the best, and they did. The location they chose may be one of the best in the area as it offers a full day of sunshine on the beach, spectacular sunsets, levels grounds and towering trees. The bonus being a gentle, sloping, sandy shoreline that is perfect for wading and swimming in crystal clear water.
Big St. Germain Lake, over 1,600 acres, has a fantastic reputation as a premier fishing and recreation destination with direct boat access to Fawn Lake and Lake Content as well. As a full recreational lake, you can enjoy a full day of water sports and be pleasantly surprised by how few others will be sharing the water with you.
The Town of St. Germain is at the center of the Great Wisconsin Northwoods. You will discover an endless list of activities to fill every waking moment year round. Great food, great shopping and great fun within a short drive. If you can't find what your looking for in St. Germain we are only 15 minutes from Minocqua and Eagle River. There is always something for everyone every day.
This is a post card most likely from the 1940's. It advertises Buckhorn Cabin when it was one of the rental units for the Musky Inn Resort. The cabin was constructed using vertical logs for the exterior walls. About 15 years ago the cabin was covered with foam insulating sheets then siding for year around comfort.
